Taking into consideration its price, you won't find any better
**UPDATE 12/4/11** Misrepresented the rating from 4 stars to 5 stars given its price drop and the picture quality contingent on to its price. My only real gripe with the T3 is its lack of a rubberized handgrip. I don't expect posh materials at this outlay point but some surface providing a better grip would have been nice. One important point though is that because of the materials occupied, it makes the camera extremely light-weight (although you will find with heavier lenses it will feel out of residue somewhat). However, despite the lack of a rubberized handgrip, you will find it hard to dislike this camera. And it I fantasize it provides an overall better and more straight-forward shooting experience than thte Nikon D3100.The wheel are pretty straight-forward on this camera. And I always like Canon's menu system, very intuitive. It has lots of auto controls for newbie photographers but of course has a full manual suite of controls so it's perfect for students or persons in...

Enormous bang for the buck
I come up with the camera is an amazing buy for the money. I was able to unpack the contents & begin shooting movables pictures IMMEDIATELY, using the fully automatic settings & the included partially charged freestyle. You will however, need to supply an SD Card as this is not included, not even a small one. The menu was a LITTLE confusing at first, but I on the double got the gist of things and am taking good pictures with the camera. Having used the full-car settings and just dabbling with the advanced settings, I'm very pleased with the purchase and I think anyone who is either new to DSLR cameras or who doesn't homelessness to spend over $1000 for a 'pro' or 'prosumer' DSLR will also be very happy with it right out of the box... or ANY of the T series cameras for that meaning. If you're going to be shooting in RAW (or like I do in RAW+L) I recommend getting AT LEAST a 16GB card, if not a 32GB card. The included mobile is a champ. It lasts a good long time & charges quickly...

Friendship it!
I purchased this camera a few life ago and I've had nothing but FUN with it! Aside from my simple Kodak Easyshare point and shoot, I had a Canon EOS Elan 7 (35mm) and had been absent to switch it over to Digital for several years. The longer I waited, the better the camera's got and more affordable they became. I decided on the Canon T3 mostly because of the affordable bounty. (Nearly 1/2 of the T3i) I felt like I was getting a very good value for my money. I was strategic! This camera takes amazing photo's! Clear, crisp, true go red in the face. It's very easy to use, right out of the box. Fit's all my old lenses and the remote from the Elan 7 All the advanced manual settings I could inadequacy topped with the instant gratification of seeing how the settings affect the picture instantly. This camera allows you to use white-hot screen shooting which so many people like these days and it takes HD video. The 12 megapixels is numbers even...

Nikon D3100 VS. D300 VS. D700
For the charge of this camera, I don't think you can get anything better. The low light performance is off the charts. As a wedding photographer I regularly speed with Nikon's high end professional equipment and I was amazed how close this camera is to a pro camera. Now let me get personal to. In order to compare I took a look at 100% files out of each camera I own. Which camera excels Nikon D3100($Inexpensive) VS. D300($1600) VS. D700 ($2,700): * Lens = The D3100 is the only camera that comes with a lens at it's normal price * ISO Exhibition = Tie between D3100 and D700! (It could be Nikon's new processing but the JPEG looks fantastic I was shooting D3100 on 6400iso with very undersized noise at all) * Low Light Focusing = D700 * Focus Speed = D700 * Alien Buttons & Controls for Pros = D700 * Menu Navigation = D3100 * Ease of Use = D3100 * Megapixel = D3100 (14.2) * Sensor judge = D700 (Much more important than megapixels...
D70 Upgrade
I recently updated my DSLR whip-round to the Nikon D3100 from the Nikon D70. There are good reviews out there that you should check out. However, I would like to dividend some of my first impressions. Pro: -Better image quality and lower noise at high ISO with the D3100 -MUCH MUCH lighter, which will be subtle when traveling -Larger LCD screen -11 focus points, including 3D focus which tracks the action of the subject or camera. -1080p Video -14 megapixels -2nd Generation DSLR -Still, quiet, quiet Cons: -No bracketing option. Not a huge deal since I only bracket once a year -Cannot use my old 50mm 1.8 lens. I knew this before purchasing the camera. -As of 10/1/2010, Camera RAW for the D3100 is not supported in Photoshop or Lightroom. Want to shoot .jpg + RAW or use Nikon Capture NX2 for RAW files. That should be updated soon, so not a big deal. -Can hear the lens focusing when recording video...
All fair things come in small packages! How true for Nikon D3100!
Hurray! The prolonged wait is over! Nikon had us wait for such a long time for its newer models (D3100 and D7000) and it was well-grounded when we started thinking if Nikon will ever have an answer, anytime soon, to Canon's T2i, 7D and 60D) they released these two wonderful cameras - D3100 and D7000. Let's concentration on D3100, shall we? So I finally had a chance to get hold of this D-SLR at Best Buy today. I am not a pro by any means but I have tempered to many different D-SLRs including Canon (40D, T2i, XSi) and Nikon (D90, D5000). When I picked-up the camera for the first every so often old-fashioned, my initial reaction was, "whoa - this is so small and light weight"! It wasn't that I wasn't knowing of the specs - I knew them beforehand but I was still blown away by how small and light it felt when I held it in my hands. Then, I vision, the grip would not be very comfortable but I was wrong as holding and operating the camera is just fine - thanks to Nikon's well-idea-out design and grip. For the size and feel,...

Canon Dare XS simply a beautiful experience
I consumed several weeks reviewing the REBEL XS vs it's many 10 MP adversaries, I even checked it against the ultra zooms as I wanted the ease of use of video as well, but too many good things stood out with this camera and so I decided upon it. I bought the rebel XS and after generation of dirt testing this camera I've found it a beautiful experience. Now I'm a professional videographer devoted to to a tv station in Trinidad & Tobago, my purpose for this camera was the need for a quick sharp still at once camera that would be impressive under low light and still capture impressive portrait shots to be used for my website and for prominently prints. I didn't want to shell out over a $1000. US for a camera body. What is tagged by Canon is steady: The full auto mode is truly accurate and gives excellent shots always, it makes photography so relaxing for a beginner or intermediate. The portrait mode isn't blurry, images are clean, nicely toned, with the exception of in quality for large...
Most skilfully Affordable DSLR (Canon XS vs. Olympus E-510 or Nikon D40/60)
I impecuniousness to save you the time and uncertainty in choosing the best affordable DSLR. For those considering the Canon EOS Resistance fighter XS, the Olympus E-510 or the Nikon D40 / D40x / D60, I believe the Canon XS is the most artistically choice. Also, at the price difference between the XS and the SXi ($150-200 as of December '08), the XS is an excellent alternative--both take verbatim the same high quality pictures, save the 2MP difference, which is negligible at the end. Please note that the XS's new lens kit comes with the better property EFS 18-55 Image Stabilization lens (they are better engineered); and that Canon is offering nowadays benevolent rebates on telephoto lenses when coupled with the purchase of the XS (I bought mine with the entry-level Canon EF 75-300mm III lens with a unstinting instant Canon rebate. Don't buy from anybody different from B&H Photo, directly from Amazon, Adorama, Buydig/Coast Camera; stay away from Broadway Photo and TriState). Canons are renowned for the excellent...
Cool starter DSLR
This journal is geared toward complete newbies (such as myself) who are coming from the point-and-shoot world. I purchased this camera due to a budget demand and after reading numerous reviews. For what you features you get, you simply cannot beat the price for an entry equivalent DSLR camera. You may have looked at the XSI (as I have) and have been tempted to put forth the extra $100 or so to get that one. If you get down to the nitty grainy between the specs of the XS and XSI, you'll find that they are very minimally different, and more importantly, those "extra" features will have no bearing on you as a DSLR newbie. This XS (1000D) pattern is oft overlooked because so many are praising its "bigger brother" the XSI. But take a look at a side-by-side comparison and you'll notice not much has been scaled back for this XS. Safeguard that extra money for better glass. I would even be willing to speculate that a future firmware discharge will address some of these...

Marvellous Starter Camera
Looking over several cameras and choosing one for someone who has outgrown core and shoots, I came back to the Nikon D3000. By no means will this model blow away the toughened photographer, however it does cover the basics and more. We picked it up and tried it out over the weekend. First time DSLR users will get a kick the Guide Mode. It literally walked us through different shoot scenarios via the fixed 3" LCD boob tube. An excellent tool, its step by step instructions allowed my niece to move from the operating leaflet in no time. After a few more runs, I am sure that she will feel quite comfortable shooting in the manual look. The quick shutter release was a nice surprise. Upon completing two days of shooting with the Nikon D3000, I walked to another place impressed. In manual mode, indoor shots were a balanced and perfect mix of shadow and go red. As usual with shooting in low light, noise will make an appearance. However this system can be tweaked to deliver some...

A- first DSLR
My appropriate old point-and-shoot camera (one of the Canon PowerShot series) had served me faithfully, but I was rising frustrated with its limitations. It seemed SO slow -- I was always missing great shots of my kids. The low-detrain performance was not particularly good. And I knew if I ever wanted to take more than basic family snapshots, I was prevalent to need to bite the bullet and buy a DSLR. But they seemed so intimidating! After doing a ton of research online and annoying out my sister-in-law's slightly older Nikon D40, I settled on the new D3000. And I love it! It indeed is easier to use than I could've imagined, and the shots I've gotten so far are amazing. I have no photographic training, but I am really happy with the pictures I've been getting so far. I never could have imagined there would be SUCH a huge difference. I've actually gotten -sharp- pictures of my toddler in stir, rather than just kid-shaped blurs! I took it to a local park last night for a couple...
Wonderful user friendly beginner camera with great AF system and image quality
Nikon D3000 is Nikon tyro / entry level camera. It replaces Nikon D60. There are three major upgrade of D3000 from D60. There are 11 Coupй focus system with dynamic tracking and 3D tracking. This AF system is the same as Nikon mid-range/enthusiast camera, D90. Also, the LCD cloak has been enlarged to 3 inches from 2.5 inches. However, the screen resolution remains the same at 230,000 dots. Also new is the Counsellor mode, this new mode is working as your tutor on basic photography. It helps you set up your camera, in the same period, it tells you about basic photography setting and concepts. Other than that, everything looks the same, buttons, placement, viewfinder and figure quality/resolution. It is an average size for beginner DSLR camera. But if you are coming from consolidated camera, you might a bit surprise of the size. On the other hand, if you are coming from advanced DSLR cameras, then you will note this camera is compact and light. Nikon D3000 has a thumb...

Leading Price Brings Upgraded Features
I purchased this camera from QVC (it was their faithful value for that day) on their easy pay plan. I began using this camera out of the box, on its auto settings indoors; it takes some very formidable photos. I was happy to see that my min pin didnt suffer the usual "I am a vicious red eyed dog" look. To liken the usefulness of the flash, I took photos in absolute darkness and then used the flash. It was major to see that the flash really did its thing without the great wash out effect. The flash worked honest as well in regular settings that required it. I used the other features for the photos I am going to describe in this paragraph. I occupation in the buildings behind the World Trade Center so taking pictures of the progress from our office is costly. On this camera, the pictures are the kind that everyone who visits wishes they could take from this view. I had no light "bounce back" from the several floors of newly installed windows on the Deliverance Tower...

Splendid camera with great features
I inamorata this camera. I bought it because it has an old school view finder and the display. Most of the cameras I have looked at have gone somewhere else from having a view finder. I have used many different cameras and on bright day it is very hard to see the flaunt and line up a shot without a view finder. It is very easy to switch between the view finder and the spread. It takes fantastic pictures and you can use rechargeable batteries if you want. Another thing that is great about this camera is the reply time between pictures. My old camera took 10 seconds before I could snap another shot. This camera is almost instantaneous.

Exclusive of Deal, Fabulous Camera
This camera takes first-rate pictures, and the pop-up flash works fantastic even in total darkness. Pictures are crisp and sheer, and the manual settings are great for advanced photographers. The editing software in the camera is considerate too so you can crop, rotate or resize your photos before uploading them, as well as saving them to their own albums for later. I would very warmly recommend this camera to anyone who wants to take thousands of casual everyday pictures, or step it up a stage and take professional grade photos.

Genuine knowledge for photographers of all levels.
Don't let the ownership put you off. The word "Dummies" might cause some folks to look elsewhere without even considering the content. I got started winning photos with a large Graflex press camera that used film plates (like you see the Throw one's arms about guys using in the old black and white movies) and have done my share of photography over the years. With the growth of digital cameras, and especially the more recent high end DSLR models, there's whole new realm of information to principal. Whether you're a seasoned photographer graduating from film (remember film?) to a new digital SLR monster, or someone having their first exposure with a point and shoot digital camera, this book will have a wealth of knowledge to help you enjoy your visual passion.
This is a prefect volume for a beginner like me!!
This lyrics AWESOME!!!! If you are a beginner know nothing about DSLR or know little bit for DSLR photography, then this engage is for you. Digital SLR?

What are some good recommendations? I would be inclined to stay away from Nikon (I really don't like them), and I learn more towards Canon.
It's wholly all right if you don't like Nikon - I think Nikon made a pretty good camera but I contemplate since you have already in the Canon camp, might as well as stick in it. Well, you probably won't be able to port your existing camera's garnishes

With DSLR's your buying into a system and Canon is far and to another place the most expensive, closely followed by Nikon.

We then nailed each "inducement" of 50-100 posters to various structures and posts. Then using a digital SLR camera with a sustained exposure we frame by frame shot each poster. Oh, and theres a teeny video projection (again, frame by frame on the SLR) just to mix it up. There is no compositing, no shortcuts, upstanding lots of blood, sweat and tears.
